AmaZulu’s new player happy with reception

AmaZulu’s newly signed defender, Stephen Makatuka believes the National First Division campaigners can still fight for promotion at the end of the season.

Makatuka joined Usuthu this week from Zimbabwean giants, Caps United and said he is looking forward to working with former Chicken Inn coach, Joey Antipas.

He was in awe of the reception he received since joining his teammates.

“I think the whole system is fantastic at AmaZulu, there’s good professionalism and support here especially from the senior players. The younger guys are now also starting to get used to me,” said Makatuka.

He said he is not anticipating a hard time in terms of transition although he said South African teams are more skilful and pacy in their displays.

“I don’t think South African football differs that much from back home, okay I do see a lot of this tiki-taka and there is talent here at AmaZulu. The guys are putting in the effort and it’s good to see the senior guys trying to unite the guys so we can push towards fighting for promotion.

“The Coach likes to work with committed players and I’m looking forward to make a contribution,” he said.

Usuthu are currently fourth on the NFD table with 23 points, and trail leaders, Thanda Royal Zulu by 12.
