Banyana teenager could be on her way to America

According to a source, Majiya caught the eye of scouts from the US during last season’s Hollywoodbets Super League.

Banyana Banyana teenager Nthabiseng Majiya is said to have attracted interest in the US and is set to be the next senior national women’s team player to ply her trade abroad.

According to a source, Majiya caught the eye of scouts from the US during last season’s Hollywoodbets Super League (HWBSL), playing for Richmond Ladies.

Majiya started to get noticed after being called up to the Banyana squad for the Caf Women’s Africa Cup of Nations last year, which the team won and made history as they lifted the trophy for the very first time.

Majiya was only 18-years old when coach Desiree Ellis called her for the tournament and didn’t disappoint. She made her debut for the team against Burundi in the Wafcon, where she was initially spotted as Banyana won 3-1 in that match.

“Nthabiseng has a bright future. There are lots of good things that will be coming her way. I think she is also lucky because not a lot of players get to be called up for Banyana at her age and become stars. There were the likes of Thembi Kgatlana and Linda (Motlhalo) back then. But we know how their careers are going at the moment. They are super stars, and that’s exactly where Nthabiseng is heading,” said the source.

“I just want to see this US deal being finalised, and the good things is these people really want her. They have promised to take her to school and pay her very well. They say that they have been watching her for some time and they are impressed with her talent. So, I think this is something that is going to happen after the World Cup in July.”

Since making her debut for Banyana, Majiya has been one of the players who is a regualar in the squad.

The Free State born forward will follow in the footsteps of many Banyana stars who have played in the US should the deal happen.

The list of senior national women team players also continues to grow, with Noxolo Cesane also having made her way to Mexico, where her Banyana teammate Jermaine Seoposenwe is also playing her football.
