Baroka is my life – Mammila

Baroka FC CEO Morgan Mammila has dismissed rumours that he was set to be fired from his job.

Bakgaga have been on the news for the wrong reasons in recent months.

Firstly, the club axed coach Kgoloko Thobejane after a poor start to the season. They then hired former Black Aces coach Jacob Sakala as their new coach.

Just two games into his new job, Sakala and technical director Mark Harrison were suspended from their job and Sakala was replaced by Thobejane on a caretaker basis.

Now rumour has it that the club’s poor fortunes in the PSL have been blamed on Mammila’s management skills and that the CEO could face the axe.

“It’s news to me that I will be fired. Baroka is my life, and my job here is not about money or anything, it’s about my passion for the club. Khurishi Mphahlele [club owner] is like a father to me, so I’m not sure where the news about me facing the axe originated from,” Mammila told Phakaaathi.

“I’m with the club as we speak, and we’re busy preparing for the Limpopo derby against Polokwane City on Sunday. We played to a 2-2 draw against them in the first half of the season, and now we’re hoping to beat them this around to change our fortunes and get back to winning ways. That’s what we’re focusing on, nothing else.”

Meanwhile, Mammila says he is not aware as to when Sakala and Harrison will appear before the club disciplinary committee.

“That’s not my department. All I can confirm is that they’re still suspended pending the outcome of the DC. Thobejane will continue to lead the team.”
