Chiefs after Chippa’s Manzini

Kaizer Chiefs are currently involved in deep negotiations with Chippa United as they try to convince the Port Elizabeth based club to sell them striker, Lerato Manzini, Phakaaathi has just learnt.

A source who is a close associate of Manzini’s agent, Lizwe Mthethwa has told Phakaaathi that Amakhosi tabled an offer for Manzini with the Chilli Boys last week, but it was declined.

“His manager just confirmed to me that Chiefs want him, but he says Chippa wants a lot of money… He said they are still negotiating though and if Chiefs are willing to pay, they might land him,” said the source who asked not to be named.

The 26-year-old Welkom born striker has netted three times in the Absa Premiership this season, with two of those goals being against Amakhosi in November last year.

Manzini still has a season and half remaining on his contract with the Chilli Boys as he signed for three years when he joined them in July 2015.

According to transfermarkt.com, Manzini was worth around R2.8-million in June 2016, but that could have risen to around R4-million by now.
