Chiefs star’s heartfelt plea to Capetonians

Cape Town-born Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cape Town Keagan Buchanan has asked fellow Capetonians to help rid the city of its violence and gangs.

After a video of a drive-by shooting surfaced Buchanan lamented the lack of agency among Capetonians to rid their city of its ills.

“Innocent people, kids have been getting shot in the gang wars in Cape Town,” read a tweet from Buchanan.

“Also, these videos that pop up every now and then is what’s happening everyday in the Cape Flats.

“Kids from the age of 14/15 are now the ones doing all the shooting, it’s difficult to stop the gang violence. You born into this lifestyle.

“Who are the role models to these kids in the flats? Soccer players, other sportsman, our only rapper @YoungstaCpt, it’s mainly the gangsters.

“But let’s keep the faith & give credit to those who are tryna change the way these kids look at life & tryna make Cape Town a better place!

“We cannot wait for these ‘important people’ to try & make where we come from a better place. It starts at home, with us!”
