Furman looking forward to possible ‘Yeye’ duel in the MTN8 final

SuperSport United captain Dean Furman is excited by the possibility of playing against his former teammate and partner in midfield, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, who signed for Highlands Park last week.

The veteran midfielder could make his Highlands debut against his former employers in grand fashion as the Lions of the North have a date with Matsatsantsa A Pitori in the MTN8 final this Saturday at the Orlando Stadium.

“If he does get the chance, it would be great to see him and come up against him but he must know that he has a very tough opponent,” said Furman.

“I spoke to him the other day and just congratulated him on signing. He is one of the fittest guys I have ever played with, so I don’t think fitness will be an issue if he gets thrown in there, I am sure he will be the Yeye that we all know. He is such a good player and once he starts going he just doesn’t stop,” he added.

The United skipper has cautioned his teammates against taking Owen Da Gama’s team lightly because they have a slight advantage, having played in many finals and won a couple in the past five seasons.

“They have got nothing to lose and they come into it feeling like it is a huge achievement to get there and they want to go a step further. If we undermine them we will be in trouble. If we take our foot off the gas, they are dangerous and they have very good players in their team,” said the Bafana Bafana destroyer.

He continued: “We have to play this game as though it is one of the biggest teams. This is a cup final and there is a trophy at the end of it and that is what we are playing for. We don’t need any motivation to be right at the top of our game and that trophy waiting to be lifted at end of the game.”
