Khune is main change as Chiefs face Swallows in Polokwane

“We are playing games back-to-back and once you're in that situation you don't want to make too many changes, except for enforced changes," says Zwane.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane says he will not make many changes to the team who beat Chippa United last week when he faces Swallows FC on Monday afternoon.

Itumeleng Khune will, however, be the main change as he will make the return to the starting lineup for the game at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Zwane says with Brandon Petersen sitting out the Monday game due to suspension, he will bring the experienced Khune and keep ore of the same team.

“In terms of preparation we had more or less a day to think about Swallows,” says Zwane as quoted by the club’s website.

“We will approach the game in the same way as we have before. We will bring in Itu (Khune) and will try to start with more or less the same team that started against Chippa, because we did not have time to prepare.

“We are playing games back-to-back and once you’re in that situation you don’t want to make too many changes, except for enforced changes.

“And that’s how we’ve prepared the team,” added the Amakhosi mentor. Swallows are in the relegation zone and Zwane expects them to bring a fight.

“Playing against teams who are trying to avoid relegation is not easy. In our game against Chippa, they were fighting for their lives and brought their A-game.

“And we had to grind hard to get the results. We have to continue where we left off and, again, grind out a result and collect points in every game that we play.

“There are only a few games left now and we want to end the season on a high as well.

“Swallows have a good team, there’s no doubt about it. It’s just that they’ve been struggling to get the results.

“But that doesn’t mean they can’t compete – they can. And we have to also bring our A-game to ensure we get the maximum points from this one.”

Chiefs are still fighting for second place and trail Orlando Pirates – who currently hold the spot – by five points with three games to the end.

SuperSport are in third place with 47 points, three more than Chiefs. Swallows are 13th and a mere five points above the relegation places.
