Komphela explains late substitutions

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela explained why he took so long to bring in new signings during the 0-0 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Kophela waited until the 63rd minute to bring in Leonardo Castro for Ryan Moon, with Siphelele Ntshangase then coming on for Dumisani Zuma in the 76th minute.

“I think what makes it difficult for us is the performance of the ones on the field,” Komphela told SuperSport TV after the game.

“You don’t just want to make a change because you have wishes. You also have to be realistic and look at the picture unfold on the pitch. Shabba had a good game, Moon had a good game. Who else did we take out? I can’t even remember. Zuma had a good game.”

The draw moved Chiefs to third on the log on level points with Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City, while Sundowns extended their lead at the top by one point.
