Why Komphela left the bench during the second half

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela explained to members of the media why he had to leave his technical area during the second half during their league tie with Cape Town City.

Komphela said he had to attend to a wardrobe malfunction during the second half of a heated game between Amakhosi and the Citizens at the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday night that saw the former losing 3-2 to the home side.

“Things happen in football, the only thing is, I am lucky that I normally carry two pants. I am wearing a different pants now. The other one just got buggered. The intensity and all that, the pants just got torn, and I had to change pants, it is not the same fabric, this is different stuff,” Komphela told the media.

“But that’s the name of the game, maybe again, Gods were telling me that this is out of ordinary. So I had to go in the dressing room and change my pants, and when I got back they said – hey, we missed two other clear chances. When I came back I asked how many did we miss because I knew there was action going on. That was that, and you’re saying as a man, let me go down, but I am going down with pride,” he added.
