Larsen backs Msowoya to find scoring touch

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen is confident that new signing Chiukepo Msowoya will regain his confidence after a dismal showing on his debut.

Abafana Bes’thende were on the bitter end of a seven-goal feast away to log leaders SuperSport United on Wednesday night in an Absa Premiership encounter at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The former Orlando Pirates forward scored an own goal just after Kudakwashe Mahachi’s 58th minute chip had launched a comeback to make the score 2-1 at the time.

“I think if you looked at his first half performance, it was a good performance. I can’t speak for what other people say, but I look at the qualities that he brings to the team, he really hustled upfront, he put them under pressure and they have got big central defenders,” Larsen said after the match.

“He gave them as much as he got. Held the ball up nicely for us, and that is why we brought him into the team. We will try and create more chances for him and hopefully he will score a few.”

The Lamontville-based side are now on position eight with 20 points.
