Nabi’s future has been the subject of plenty of speculation, even though he won Chiefs their first trophy in a decade when they beat Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final earlier this month.

No MTN8 for Chiefs again

Amakhosi drew with Polokwane City last weekend to end a dismal Betway Premiership season, where they finished outside the top eight in the table for the second year in a row. This means they will again not play in the season opening MTN8.

“For now, we know that the coach will be joining the team on the pre-season tour and camp,” an insider told Soccer Laduma.

‘He has suggested some players’

“To a certain extent we say say his future is not yet clear but for the pre-season training I am certain he will apparently be joining them. He has suggested some players who he would like to sign and he has to be there to see that happen. That’s where things are believed to be right now.”

A Sunday Times report immediately after the Nedbank Cup final suggested Nabi would be sacked at the end of the season and leave with his whole technical team.
