City accused of sidelining Pirates-bound Mncwango

While soccer fans can’t wait for the season to end as it promises a photo-finish, one Absa Premiership player shares anticipation albeit for a different reason.

Polokwane City’s Thobani Mncwango is anticipating the end of this season because he will be leaving the Limpopo based club to join Orlando Pirates at the end of June.

The 27-year-old attacker has been frustrated at Rise and Shine since December after he refused to sign a contract extension, sources have claimed.

“He has not been played because management believe they can’t rely on someone who will be leaving in a few months anyway. Whether that is sensible, don’t ask me,” said a source.

Phakaaathi also understands that former City coach, Luc Eymael left the club after he was instructed not to use Mncwango and he felt that management were interfering with his work.

Rise and Shine have, however, tried to portray Mcwango as an undisciplined player who started acting up when he became aware that Pirates wanted him, the source further stated.
