Out-of-favour defender on his way out of Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs are said to be considering terminating the contract of defender Sibusiso Khumalo.

As reported by Phakaaathi earlier, Chiefs were looking to loan him out during the current transfer period, but according to a source close to the club, there have been no takers for his services.

With Chiefs having promoted Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya from the development structures, Khumalo finds himself down the perking order for the left-back position at Chiefs.

“The fact that they promoted Sipho and played him immediately ahead of Khumalo shows that they no longer have confidence in him,” said the source.

“The problem with Sibusiso is that he is injury prone. He plays one or two games and is out injured again. And with nobody interested in him, Chiefs are now considering releasing him from his contract,” added the source.

Chiefs currently have Khumalo, Ntiya-Ntiya, Philani Zulu and Tsepo Masilela all vying for the left-back position.

Masilela is out injured, and up until recently, Zulu has been the preferred left-back for Chiefs.

However, Ntiya-Ntiya started the game for Chiefs when they played to a 0-0 draw against SuperSport United when they league resumed last weekend.
