Teko Modise set for Pirates return?

The rumours of Teko Modise returning to Orlando Pirates are spreading like wildfire and a Phakaaathi source has revealed that it might be true.

Modise has reportedly announced that he would be leaving Mamelodi Sundowns but didn’t say where he would be headed.

“He might be going back. But his move there may depend on whether Pirates manage to get Steven Pienaar as they need an experienced campaigner to lead the team next season. Teko is willing to go back because he never won anything with them and would like to change that,” said a source.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old midfielder revealed last month that he would retire after two seasons to focus on his businesses.

“I will retire from football in two seasons to focus on my business. Football has taken so much of my time, but I hope I won’t be lost in the game because I want to plough back to the community through the sport,” Modise was quoted as saying by Sun Sport.

Modise started his professional football career at Ria Stars in 2001.

The veteran midfielder has also played for City Pillars, SuperSport United and Pirates in his illustrious career.
