New Marumo coach Malesela promises to put a ‘Gallant’ fight

'Everyone has welcomed me very well and I am optimistic that in no time, we will see a good improvement,' says Malesela

If there is one thing that Dan Malesela wants to see at his new club Marumo Gallants, is for the club to start winning games.

Malesela was announced as the new head coach of the Limpopo based club this week and he is confident he can push the club to the top after replacing Sebastien Migne, who was sacked last month.

But, the former TS Galaxy and Chippa United mentor joins a bottom of the log rooted Gallants following a poor start to the season, having accumulated just four points in their last nine games. However, Malesela is adamant that the club can quickly get out of the position they find themselves in currently.

“Look, it’s a good feeling. When the club called, I didn’t even think twice. And I thought we would suit each other. So, when the president called I didn’t even hesitate. I am here now and things are looking good.” said the new Gallants mentor.

“Everyone has welcomed me very well and I am optimistic that in no time, we will see a good improvement, a very huge improvement from the team. I also think it’s just a matter of time before we get ourselves out of the position that we are in now. I don’t think it reflects what the club has in terms of playing material,” he continued.

“I want this club to play to win, we are playing good football all the time. But we haven’t really focused on the most important thing, what the team wants, which is winning matches.”

Malesela’s last coaching spell was at the Chilli Boys before it ended in April this year. His first task as Gallants coach is an away clash to SuperSport United on Saturday.
