PSL dismisses reported rift with sponsors

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) says their sponsors are happy and will not pull out.

Reports suggest that  PSL sponsors are unhappy with the ongoing SABC blackout and have threatened to withdraw their sponsorship.

The public broadcaster has been unable to broadcast PSL matches after failing to reach an agreement with the League over the asking price for broadcast rights.

“First of all, we’ve been clear as the league that the person who speaks on our behalf is the chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza. He addressed this issue at some stage and I think, whenever there is something new, the chairman would address this issue,” PSL spokesperson Luxolo September was quoted as saying by SowetanLIVE.

“The second part is the lies. There is a big headline going out there that the sponsors are concerned and they have sent an ultimatum. It’s just there to sow division and cause confusion. It’s not true.”
