Safa suspends corrupt match officials

The Safa disciplinary committee (DC) has punished the match officials who were found guilty of wrongdoing.


Thabo Thinane, Rudzani Mulaudzi and Linos Hobwane were all found guilty and sanctioned by the DC.

Mulaudzi, who worked as a match commissioner, was charged with providing false information in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) matter between Amazulu FC and Baroka FC.

Hobwane was suspended as a referee for two seasons for giving false information in the same match that Mulaudzi was suspended for, while Thinane was found guilty of using another official’s medical certificate.

Thinane has been suspended for three months.

“Our zero tolerance on corrupt activities, especially among officials, are well-documented, and this is a reminder that anyone caught in corrupt matters will face the full wrath of the law. Be warned,” said Safa chairperson of the technical committee Natasha Tsichlas.
