Ipid raids former top cop Phahlane’s home
Ipid investigators are said to have found documents allegedly showing the case against the watchdog's head Robert McBride was fabricated.

Police watchdog Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has reportedly raided the home of former acting national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane.
At least seven properties linked to Phahlane were raided, EWN reported on Wednesday. According to the report, Ipid investigators on Tuesday are said to have found documents allegedly showing the cases against the organisation’s head Robert McBride and Ipid investigators were fabricated.
Earlier this year in June, Phahlane was suspended after he was accused of fraud and corruption for allegedly taking kickbacks to secure SAPS tenders for a company that installed an R80 0000 sound system in his house.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) last month announced it would not prosecute Phahlane on charges of defeating the ends of justice after he allegedly contacted witnesses in the Ipid case against him.
It is understood that the seven properties raided included the home of Phahlane’s sister, a Pretoria car dealer and FDA director Keith Keating.
Ipid has refused to comment on an ongoing investigation.
