Downs have always been believers of the South American ‘cream’ as they have had the likes of Venezuelan Jose Torrealba and Jorge Acuna from Chile in their ranks down the years.

Currently, Masandawana have Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento and had Leonardo Castro who has since joined Kaizer Chiefs.

“The resources are many there, if I have to tell the truth, that’s why Wydad Casablanca are going there too. I am happy that now we have started the trend of South America, I saw that Golden Arrows went there, Chiefs also went to get Gustavo Paez and then they have Leo now,” said Mosimane.

“You go to South America and you find out that the mine here and the resources are available is still fresh and the mine produces a lot, so there’s enough. Maybe the trend will go somewhere else, SuperSport United decided to go New Zealand and Australia,” he added.

Mosimane continued: “If Barcelona went to South American for Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, if Manchester City can go to South America, why can’t we also go?”
