Nomvethe to complete Uthongathi move

Veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvethe is expected to sign with Glad Africa Championship side Uthongathi FC.

Nomvethe retired at the start of the 2018/2019 season when his contract with AmaZulu expired.

The 42-year-old started training with the Cane Cutters in December before the festive break to prepare to sign a contract at the start of the second half of the 2019/2020 season.

Uthongathi official Nkosinathi Chili confirmed that the club offered Nomvethe a contract and he could sign before the end of the week.

Chili revealed that they were in advanced talks with the veteran striker and hoped his experience could help them gain promotion into the Absa Premiership.

“In the days that Nomvethe has trained with us, he has proven that he could help get the club in the Absa Premiership. He is still fit. We had planned to sign him before Friday but it might not happen. We should be done with the deal by Monday,” Chili was quoted by Isolezwe.
