Sundowns lose out on Ugandan teenage sensation

Mamelodi Sundowns have lost out on signing Ugandan youngster, Allan Okello who is set to join Ajax Amsterdam this week.

The 16-year-old attacker impressed the Brazilians’ technical team when he gave a solid performance in the colours of Kampala City Capital Authority in March.

Phakaaathi understands that Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane tried to lure the youngster to join his team but his managers were unimpressed that he would be roped in to play for the Brazilians Multichoice Diski Challenge team.

“The deal was never going to happen because Mosimane let it slip that he would take Okello to the juniors. Sundowns’ development is not known for producing any remarkable players and that was a major turn off for his managers. Okello is seen as the best thing to come out of Uganda in recent years and everyone wants him to become the best,” said a Phakaaathi source in Uganda.

“He is now going to Ajax Amsterdam and they believe he will be properly developed into a fine player there. As part of the deal, his team KCCA have been invited to a tour in Holland where they will play four matches,” added the source.
