Springs Mine and Military Museum acquires rare 1914 British gun

The Springs Mine and Military Museum is growing its historic gun collection after securing a rare 1914 British 13-pound gun from the Gunners Association.

The Springs Mine and Military Museum is expanding its gun collection, with new additions set to go on display soon.

Founder Tony da Cruz, together with Errol Brits and Allan Pollastrini, travelled to Durban on October 3 to collect several historic pieces, including a rare 1914 British 13-pound gun donated by the Gunners Association.

Markon Motors assisted by providing a trailer to transport the gun back to Springs. Upon its arrival, it was delivered for sandblast cleaning at Eziblast Sandblasting.

“The gun was loaded with much difficulty, but we overcame it. It shall be restored and displayed at the museum with pride and respect,” Da Cruz said.
