In the grand scheme of things, fake green pine trees are fine.

But, if you’re looking for something a little more creative and out of the ordinary, here are some alternatives to the traditional Christmas tree:

Newspaper tree

Begin with the tree’s trunk as the main structure.

To make the branches, make a base (trunk) out of wood, plastic, or metal and attach rolled or folded newspapers.

Newspaper folded into cones can also be effective.

Hang ornaments from the branches or make paper designs and glue them on to decorate your paper tree.

Don’t forget the fairy lights for that ethereal glow!

Chalkboard tree

Decorating a Christmas tree is one of the most exciting aspects of the holiday season, and a chalkboard, whether flat or standing, only serves to encourage creativity.

Draw a tree design on a flat chalkboard.

This can be decorated with physical baubles, tinsel, and lights, or it can be fully embraced with messages, designs, and decorations in various colored chalk.

Pinecone tree

With this magnificent tree, you can embrace the spirit of the great outdoors.

Despite its impressive appearance, this tree was created by arranging, painting, and gluing pine cones into a pyramid shape, with a single cone on top.

Decorate however you see fit!
