The Carling Currie Cup match between the Western Province and the Pumas was interrupted when the lights went off as load-shedding kicked in. Spectators in the stands switched on their cellphone lights as a โ€˜substituteโ€™ when the stadiumโ€™s spotlights were off.

The Western Province won the match 23-17.
