Weekend crime and successes – Vanderbijlpark

A well informed and empowered community is what we, as Vanderbijlpark SAPS, strive towards, as we keep fighting the good fight against crime.  Such a well informed community are more alert and detour criminals.  The following weekend crime and crime trends were reported.

CRIME IN GENERAL

Our crime has increased and all five (5) Sectors were affected by crime.

Increase in housebreaking cases and decrease in business breakings

Our house breaking has increased Bophelong is leading with house breakings Mqhayi Street, Sekgallo Avenue, Ext6, Bernini Street CE2 and Frikkie Meyer Blvd CW3.  Stolen items were electrical equipment, X-box games, laptops, TV’s, fridge, sitting room suit, bedroom suit, pots, shoes, jewelry, and cash.

Business breakings has decreased. Business breaking  happened in Klasie Havenga Street CBD where a business was broken into and a laptop was stolen. Another one happened in Macowen Street SE2 where hand radio’s and a jacket were stolen.

Business robbery

Happened in Heaviside Street CW5 where the victim was busy selling for the customer when one suspect walked in pretended to be buying when two more unknown suspects joined him and produced firearms instructed them to lie on the floor.  Suspects stole cash, cigarettes and a lot of grandpa powders and fled the scene.

Robbery without a firearm

Happened in Bophelong where a victim was from a drinking place at night approached by  a group of suspects who assaulted him and robbed him his cell phone.

Murder

Happened in Bophelong Ext.8 where the deceased was found dead in street in Ext.8 the deceased was stabbed to death.  We are appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to come  forward to the polices station and ask for Sgt. Tumelo Mokoena to help us with investigation.  

Theft of motor vehicle

Blue Mazda 323 stolen in Bophelong Ext.2, white Hyndai Elantra stolen in Hawkshaw Street CE2, white Mazda Sting stolen in Piet Retief Blvd SE7 and a Mazda Rustler was stolen in Lion Cachet Street SW1.

 Theft out of a motor vehicle

 In Schumman Street SW5 cars were broken into a laptop, sports bag, handbag, clothes and a knife were stolen.  It has come to our attention that the suspects have targeted schools while schools are having activities.  May our community not put colour as at this moment we are having people who say the witnesses said they saw a white male jumped of the wall.

Carjacking

Happened in Bophelong near Ext. 18 in the early hours of the morning where the victim was on his way home when he heard a bang on his right side window he stopped to check what was wrong that is when he was approached by three (3) unknown suspects who assaulted him badly and took his wallet and his red VW Polo 1.9 TDI.

Second one happened in R57 in the NW7 area where the victim and his wife were hijacked by unknown males who drove in front of him and was surrounded by three more vehicles and pointed them with firearms took his Toyota Corolla, the wife managed to escape and notified the police, husband was told to run and later the police recovered the vehicle.  Victims were not harmed, no suspects were arrested.

SUCCESSES

The Vanderbijlpark SAPS managed to arrest a total of 54 people over the weekend for various crimes. 0 illegal shebeen was closed, 2 suspect for drugs and 6 people were arrested for driving under the influence.

CONVICTIONS

Our detective managed to get convictions of 12 years imprisonment for house breaking and theft.  We will like to say to Cst. Buti Mamatela we are proud with his conviction as house breakings is a big problem here in Vanderbijlpark.  Keep up the good work.
