He was supposed to go for a year, but then the Coronavirus hit Spain. Currently, Spain is one of the hardest hit countries in the world. Fortunately, he was able to return home on 26 March. He is now under quarantine for 14 days.

In an electronic interview, Katlego said he enjoyed his two months overseas. He made new friends and enjoyed the country’s food. Before the pandemic he went to a local school in Zaragoza where he took Mathematics, English, IT, Economics, Accounting, History of Spain and Philosophy. After school he spent time with his new friends and played soccer.

Katlego and other Rotary exchange students explored the country together. They visited Spain’s many historical sites and formed lasting friendships.

He is glad to be safely back in South Africa and had this special message for our readers: “In these stressful times we should not panic. Stay safe and stay indoors. Spend time with your family and treasure your time with them, because at this moment that is all we can do and, most importantly, pray!”
