Waste collection interrupted by Covid-19 cases

EMFULENI. – The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM)  says there will be an interruption in household collection and street-sweeping services.

This is after two Covid-19 cases were reported in the Waste Department at both the  the Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark Depots.

In a statement, ELM reported that one of the employees had sadly succumbed to Covid-19 complications and was laid to rest over the weekend.

“As a precautionary measure, the two depots have been closed for decontamination, tracing and testing of employees who were in contact with the affected employees.”

ELM said it would communicate further updates in due course.
