Nkosi elected Lesedi Mayor

The newly inaugurated Nkosi did not want to commit himself much, but assured the community that he will take off where Maloka left off.

SEDIBENG.- Amid ululations and a huge applause, Mluleki Ronald Nkosi was elected unanimously as the new Executive Mayor of Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) at a Council meeting last week.

Nkosi, who was the Speaker of LLM, occupies the vacant position after former LLM Mayor, Lerato Maloka was recently deployed to Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) as Mayor. Maloka filled in the vacant Mayoral position after the passing on of the late Busisiwe Modisakeng earlier this year due to Covid-19 complications.

ANC Sedibeng bigwigs which included Sello ‘Charmer’ Pitso (second from left) attended Mluleki Nkosi’s (forth from left) mayoral appointment.

Nkosi was referred to as one of the most popular leaders in the ANC and in the community of Lesedi, which encompasses Ratanda, Heidelberg, Jamesonpark, Fischkuil, Kwazenzele, Devon and Impumelelo.

The council meeting and inauguration was attended by the community members, business moguls, Gauteng MEC for Sports Mbali Hlophe, SDM Mayor, Lerato Maloka, SDM Speaker, Andiswa Mosai and Nkosi’s family which included his mother. ANC Sedibeng bigwigs, Siphiwe Mgcina, Jason Mkhwane, Sello ‘Charmer Pitso’, Nomsa Motaung, Velile Mkhontwana and the ANC Youth League’s Regional Chairperson Yusuf Mahommed also attended the event.

Mapule Motsepe, who was the MMC for Engineering Services, was elected the Speaker of Council, replacing Nkosi.
The newly inaugurated Nkosi did not want to commit himself much, but assured the community that he will take off where Maloka left off.
