76 animals sterilised at recent outreach

Of these 76 animals, 44 of them were females. Within a 12 month period these 44 females could have produced 528 offspring.

DE DEUR: The SPCA Vereeniging & Vanderbijlpark joined forces with Pet Community Outreach.   The outreach was held in collaboration with Curls & Twirls, Town & Country Animal Feeds and Pet Pool & Home.

The aim of the day was to sterilise as many dogs & cats as possible, which also included vaccinations and dipping of the animals.

Of these 76 animals, 44 of them were females. Within a 12 month period these 44 females could have produced 528 offspring. “This means that we managed to stop 528 unwanted puppies and kittens from being born, and possibly euthanised due to a shortage of good homes available,” SPCA said in a Facebook post. “We are so grateful for Pet Community Outreach for allowing us to part take in their outreach project.”

The SPCA Vereeniging & Vanderbijlpark SPCA has its own sterilisation project.

“So far we have raised R19,000 and managed to sterilise 42 animals! Our aim is to raise R100 000 so that we can sterilise 225 dogs and cats.”

“Please donate towards our worthy cause and help us prevent another 1,300 unwanted puppies & kittens from being born in the next 6 months! You are their only hope. You can make a difference. You can help us reduce the number of animals being euthanased.”
