SEBOKENG. There’s nothing good for some members of the community of Zone 6 Extension 2 in Sebokeng as they are literally swimming in sewerage.

Betty Kunene (60) said she has since tried to keep the children inside the house to avoid inhaling  smell from the sewerage that is running in the yard.

“It seems as if I am not winning this battle. I am running a small business and there’s no way that we keep the door closed, “ she said.

Kunene said she had since reported the sewage problem to Emfuleni Local Municipality immediately when it started leaking. 

Instead, Kunene was visited by a unknown private company. “They promised that once they obtain a reference number from the municipality they would be able to fix it.”

Kunene said at the time she reported the problem to the municipality they never gave her a reference number.

“It is my wish to see the municipality coming to open the pipes and deal away with this .”
