DA calls for action on Boitumelo clinic
Residents are still relying on a mobile clinic while waiting for a permanent healthcare facility.
BOITUMELO – The DA in Emfuleni Central has called on the Gauteng Department of Health to provide answers and a clear implementation plan for a permanent clinic in Boitumelo.
According to the party, residents currently rely on a mobile clinic and were left waiting outside in cold and rainy weather on October 1 without adequate shelter.
The DA said elderly residents, children, people living with disabilities and those who are already sick are particularly affected by the conditions.

According to the statement, the mobile clinic was intended as a temporary measure for the area, while the building of a clinic has been on the planning map for some time.
The party said the community is still waiting for meaningful progress from the provincial Department of Health.
The DA has now asked the department to provide a clear update on the status of the Boitumelo clinic and a firm timeline for when a permanent clinic will be built.
It also wants the department to explain what has caused the delays and to put immediate measures in place to provide adequate shelter for patients waiting at the mobile clinic.
Healthcare cannot remain a promise on a planning document — it must be delivered where people live.
The party further called on the department to engage directly with the Boitumelo community on the way forward.
“The people of Boitumelo deserve better than promises and plans that never reach the ground,” the statement reads.
The DA said it would continue to raise the matter with the relevant authorities.
The Gauteng Department of Health will be approached for comment.
