ELM warns job seekers against more “sophisticated” cash for jobs scam

Realising that ELM residents are now aware of their unscrupulous ways, swindlers have now turned to the internet to target unsuspecting job hunters from outside the borders of the municipality.

EMFULENI. –The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has warned desperate jobseekers against a more sophisticated cash for jobs scandal.

ELM stated that fraudsters were now using more advanced ways to lure unsuspecting people looking for jobs.

“Realising that ELM residents are now aware of their unscrupulous ways, swindlers have now turned to the internet to target unsuspecting job hunters from outside the borders of the municipality.

“No politician or employee is allowed to demand or request money for any vacancy or interview.”

ELM reports that the municipality does not demand money for any recruitment purposes including administration or processing of employment forms.

“These are done freely by administrators in order to appoint relevant persons to advertised posts.”

ELM further advised the community at large to report anyone who was demanding money in exchange for employment opportunities to the office of the Municipal Manager.
