EVATON.- The executive office of Internal Taxi Association (ITA) is appealing to the Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Jacob Mamabolo to lift up the restrictions made to close down the operational routes of the roads in their areas.
This comes after the MEC decided to shut down all the routes due to the recent taxi violence over the routes between the Internal Taxi Association (ITA) and Evaton Taxi West Association (ETWA).
The affected associations were given some time to submit a written report to his office.
The Chairperson of ITA, Mr More told Vaalweekblad that they are busy drafting a letter to the office of the National Taxi Association to appeal the sentence imposed by the MEC.
More further appealed to the office of the MEC to consider commuters and other things.
The closing of operation will be effective as from 8 July 2021 until 8 January 2022. Mamabolo said the affected routes are closed for the operation of public roads passenger services.
Mamabolo said that during this period no person shall be allowed to undertake passengers road transport service in the affected routes.
