A happy ending: Cupcake finds her forever home!

Originally very scared of people, Cupcake became a “house dog” and started socializing and is now especially keen on hugs and kisses

The pandemic brought along many stories of woe, but also of wonder. One of the uplifting stories is about Cupcake, a stray who was apparently abandoned by her owners during lockdown. She was rescued by animal lover Belinda-Laine Noortman a few months ago. Belinda nursed the abused and neglected pup, at that stage only a living skeleton in a skin, back to life and named her Cupcake, because she was such a “sweet thing”.

Originally very scared of people, Cupcake became a “house dog” and started socializing and is now especially keen on hugs and kisses. She grew so fond of Belinda that she followed her everywhere. Scared of being left in the cold again, she started putting her paw on Belinda’s feet whenever her rescuer stood up to leave the room, in an attempt to keep Belinda from leaving her behind. Unfortunately, Belinda cannot keep all the strays she rescues and had to start looking for a forever home for Cupcake. However, after months, nobody volunteered to adopt her.

Ster recently published an article about Cupcake’s fate, and someone responded! Last week she found a new loving owner and a forever home!

“Her adoptive Mommy says things are going great and that they already love Cupcake to bits. My heart is full, and I am so grateful for people who choose to adopt, because they are doing an amazing thing! Without people who adopt, there won’t be happy endings for so many dogs,” says Belinda.
