Mob justice carried out as crowd waits for Mmusi Maimane
Members of the community of Zone 7 in Sebokeng were seen chasing a male suspect with sjamboks, sticks, rods, pangas and floggers as another group of people were waiting on former opposition leader Mmusi Maimane to address them on a dry soccer pitch opposite the Empilisweni Clinic in Ezindumevi Street.
SEBOKENG. – Maimane, former DA leader who is now a leader of the One South Africa Movement, was set to address the crowd at around 09:00 and announce the mayoral candidate for the New Horizon Movement on Wednesday morning (15 September 2021) but ran a little late.
The New Horizon Movement is a new movement who will be contesting all 45 wards of the Emfuleni Local Municipality in the upcoming local government elections on 1 November this year.
They seem to have the support of Maimane’s One South Africa Movement.
While the crowd was waiting for Maimane to arrive the community members carrying out the mob justice apprehended a suspect and marched him down Ezindumevi Street.
It is unclear what sins the man committed or what happened to him.
An armed man carrying a long panga told Vaalweekblad to stop filming as they walked past.

Blissfully unaware of the violence that had just transpired, Maimane later arrived and delivered an energetic speech.
He announced reverend Vincent Jones as the New Horizon Movement’s mayoral candidate.
