Flooding and road closures across Metismaholo

Heavy rain caused extensive flooding and road closures across the municipal area yesterday.

Many residents of Metsimaholo Local Municipality have lost personal belongings and more due to floods. Though their houses have not been entirely destroyed, they have suffered severe damage and lost a lot of their belongings due to the amount of water.
The Executive Mayor of Metsimaholo Local Municipality, Cllr Jeff Zwane urged residents to always be observant. “This is one of the toughest moments where the municipality has to intervene to help the affected residents. We will not sit back while the lives of our people are in danger”, said Cllr Zwane.
Several streets in and outside the municipality were under water yesterday. The municipality is making an urgent request for residents to stay at home if they can during heavy rain.
According to an official statement the Municipal team is attending to the damage caused. “We sympathize with all the affected residents,’ the statement concluded.
