Five nabbed for possession of suspected stolen vehicle in Vanderbijlpark

Five suspects were arrested on Tuesday for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and possession of car theft equipment in Vanderbijlpark.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Police Spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello reports that  members of the Vanderbijlpark SAPS Task Team received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle with occupants trying to steal a bakkie at Carter Street in Vanderbijlpark.

“The members chased the said vehicle with the assistance of patrollers. The chase cintinued until Sharpeville policing precinct where members blocked the alleged vehicle and suspects started running on foot to an open veld.

“A shoot-out between suspects and  members ensued and one suspect was shot in the leg while four other suspects surrendered.”

Paramedics attended to the injured suspect and  handed him back to the Police.

Sello says All five  suspects aged between 30 and 54 years were arrested and will make an appearance before Vanderbijlpark Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of suspected stolen vehicle and car breaking impliments.
