Foreign national arrested for possession of drugs worth R700 000

This is after they managed to arrest a foreign national found in possession of Tik, Crystal meth and Mandrax tablets worth an estimated street value of R700 000.

VEREENIGING. -The Vereeniging Station Commander Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba has commended members of the  Hawks, National Intelligence and Germiston K9 in Vereeniging.

This is after they managed to arrest a foreign national found in possession of Tik, Crystal meth and Mandrax tablets worth an estimated street value of R700 000.

Ndaba congratulated  members on the job well done. “We are going to stop at nothing to make sure that  illegal drugs and peddlers are removed from society.”

Ndaba stated that the police are working tirelessly in making Vereeniging a drug free town.

Meanwhile, Vereeniging police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda reports that a total of 44 people were arrested for various crimes.

Among the crimes they were arrested for was possession of drugs, dealing in drugs,  driving under the influence,  shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen property , theft, undocumented persons and contravention of arms and ammunition act.

“All the arrested people have  appeared  in Vereeniging magistrate court.”

Funda further warns the community of Three Rivers about the high level of crime in the area.

” The theft from and of motor vehicles, house breakings, house robberies, common robbery and robbery, theft of security beams and stock theft is on the rise.

“We therefore urge residents to tighten security around their homes.”

Funda adds that the theft of motor vehicles is still rife in Three Rivers with the targeted make being VW Polo, NP2OO and 4X4 of any make.

“We  want to remind the community to report all crime activities that they might be aware of anonymously to crime stop on 08600 10111 or report using the MYSAPS App. Information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
