Vanderbijl Bowling Club’s youngest member only 8 years old

VANDERBIJLPARK. - The Vanderbijlpark Bowling Club (established in 1951) has a rich history and many awards behind its name... and awards just keep on rolling in!

“When you hear the word bowls you often think old man’s game, but this is definitely not the case,” says Lizzy Alexanders, bar manager of the club.

The club’s youngest member is Barend Steyn Jnr (8) and the eldest member is Dougie De Beer (88).

The Bowling Club boasts three greens, bar facilities, a massive hall for functions and most importantly, friendly members that always go that extra mile to make everyone feel welcome.

The new bowling season recently kicked off and the members are already on a roll (pardon the pun).

The club made history as both men and ladies teams walked away with the Sunday District Trips.

District Achievements thus far include:

Novice runner-up – Jeanré van Wyk Men’s Singles – Jimmy Stewart

Pairs – Stephen Ramage and Terence Cadwell

Runners-up – Jimmy Stewart and Hennie Bierman Trips – Chris Kruyshaar, Terence Cadwell and Stephen Ramage

Wednesday League – Johnny Peens, Stan Marshall, Terence Cadwell and Jimmy Stewart.
