Eskom transformers recovered

A group of Zone 14, Sebokeng community members blocked them as they came to 'protect their transformer' which was supposed to be fixed.

SEDIBENG.- The South African Police Service (SAPS) intelligence team recently received information about Eskom electrical transformers that were being illegally fixed at one of the plots in De Deur.

It is said that upon arrival at the plot police found about 19 Eskom tranformers and notified Eskom. Police Spokesperson Sergeant Nombulelo Mohlakoana said that the following day when Eskom employees came to remove them, a group of Zone 14, Sebokeng community members blocked them as they came to ‘protect their transformer’ which was supposed to be fixed.

Eskom employees eventually managed to remove the transformers, under police guard to their warehouse.

“The community should stop contributing for their transformer to be fixed. They should start paying for the services that they are receiving. The suspect has been arrested and is out on bail.”

Investigations are still going on.
