Vision is essential, but some still gamble with their eyesight and do not take the effects of diabetes on their eyes seriously.

Diabetes can destroy your vision if not controlled well. Good news is that eye degeneration as a result of diabetes is preventable.

New diabetic patients’ eyes should be examined upon diagnosis and all diabetic patients (Type 1 and 2) should then be examined yearly thereafter.

As a special community service a free diabetic eye screening day will take place on 13 May from 08:00 to 13:00 and will be performed by Dr. C.I Gouws, Ophthalmologist at Ocumed Building 3, 17 Vaal Drive, Sylviavale, Vanderbijlpark.
