ANCYL marches to the ELM

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) recently held a protest march to the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) offices in Vanderbijlpark, where a memorandum of complaint was handed over to the ELM officials last week.

The march started at the Vanderbijlpark Licence Department, it ended at the ELM main building.
The ANCYL memorandum was received outside the main gate by ELM MMC for Safety, Ndade Mokoena.
In the memo, the ANCYL indicated that they want away with the ‘elderly people’ working in the ELM, stating that the older officials are “killing the ANC”.
ELM MMC for Safety, Ndade Mokoena addressed the ANCYL after receiving the memorandum outside the gate.
“The time for young people to lead is now. We are more vibrant.”
Jabu Maitse, Coordinator of the march stated in the memo that they want accountability on the nature of allegations contained in the letter written to the Auditor General regarding irregularities in the Kunene Makopo Risk Solution tender.
“Young people should be employed without being restricted due to irrelevant experience requirements.
“Bursaries should be allocated to deserving students in all FET Colleges and Universities.
The land should be for people of Emfuleni, young entrepreneurs and cooperatives for local economic development.
The Compario report findings and recommendations should be followed and charges laid against implicated individuals.”
Receiving the memo, MMC Mokoena assured the youth that he would submit it to the Executive Mayor, Sipho Radebe to respond within 14 days as required by the youth.
