VUT classes suspended indefinitely

The Vice chancellor and Principal of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT), Professor Dan Kgwadi together with his management have indefinitely suspended classes.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- This after the recent violent disruption which resulted in major damage to the university infrastructure. For the safety of everyone and academic activities as well as the infrastructure Prof Kgwadi instructed everyone to be out of the institution before the end of 9 June. To date no visitors or students were allowed to the campus.

Prof Kgwadi said the essential services are still expected to be provided where necessary. He said internal investigation had been initiated and stern disciplinary action will be taken against perpetrators.

Criminal charges will also be laid against those found responsible for the damage caused to university properties.

Mandla Masedi, President of the VUT said this comes as a surprised to all. “The said protest violence started during the night. However, that does not mean we are not going to track down the culprits. We will leave no stone unturned. The suspects will be brought to book,” said Masedi.
