Vaaldriehoek Bokkie raises funds with Cancun Spur
MEYERTON. - Cancun Spur has once again given back to the community through a charity fundraiser for the Vaaldriehoek Bokkie Under 14 Rugby Team recently.
This fundraiser took place through a Shadow Shift Evening at the Spur branch, where team members had a fun filled educational night.
The Shadow Shift initiative started at 6pm and ended at 9pm. 10% of profits generated during those three hours were donated to the team. Parent Orrin Stander says: “The objective of this initiative is to give the boys an opportunity to raise funds for the upcoming tour in Kroonstad. There are about 11 boys here today and the money raised will be shared amongst them and will go towards their tour fund.” Jayden Booysens (14) says: “I’m a sociable person and this experience has been a lot of fun as I like communicating with people. I am also looking forward to raising money for our team. I’ve learnt a lot about working in a restaurant.” Spur Manager Jared Martin (38) says: “This is an opportunity for schools to raise funds for their sporting activities. It also gives them an opportunity to gain experience of the restaurant industry. The waiters are also having a lot of fun working with the kids.”
