New path for Rotary Club of Vereeniging as it merges with Rotary Club Riverside

The Rotary Club of Vereeniging was recently disbanded and its members will join the Rotary Club of Riverside.

VEREENIGING. – The Rotary Club of Vereeniging, was chartered in 1944, just before the Second World War.

For 78 years the club has serviced the local community and surroundings.

Assisting with various amazing projects, e.g. funding cataract surgeries through a Rotary matching grant, distributing books and building libraries, giving equipment to schools, building specifically designed equipment for severely handicapped children, distribution of food and blankets to the poor and needy to name a few.

Keeping clubs like this alive can only be attributed to membership and sadly through these tough times, the club member numbers dwindled.

Sadly two of the board members passed away during Covid-19.

The club was unable to pick up its membership.

In order to save the amazing memories and continue the legacy of what Rotary is, the club decided to merge with another local club, and not close entirely. Rotarians remain members because they believe in what Rotary stands for, assisting and helping the community.

The honorary members and friends from the Rotary club of Vereeniging, have now joined the Rotary Club of Riverside and look forward to working together with them in this very exciting year living out this year’s theme which is “Imagine Rotary”.
