Six fighters from Meyerton Fighting Systems kept the South African flag flying high when they fought against fighters from all over the African continent during the continental championships in the East Rand.
The fighters under the mentorship of Sensei David Kies represented South Africa at the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations’ (WAKO) African Championships held at the John Barrable Hall in Benoni on 26 and 28 August.
Five of the six fighters were awarded medals.
Vian Singleton and DJ Jacobs both achieved gold medals, while Willem van Straaten and Winuska van Straaten achieved silver medals. Lezane van Schalkwyk got a bronze medal after losing to the #2 ranked fighter in the world in her semi-final bout.
