Vaal Athletic Club Masters, an inspiration for youth
Masters athletes shone at the Vaal Athletic Club’s Year-End Function of 2023.
VEREENIGING. – The Vaal Athletic Club (VAC) honoured its top athletes at the Year-End Function and Annual General (AGM) meeting of the VAC at Nelsonia Restaurant in Midvaal on Friday, November 24.
Masters athlete Marietjie Ceronio was announced as Road Runner of the Year following her gold medal at the ASA 5km Championships on June 17th.
Marietjie won her in age category (women 65-69) in a time of 23:38.
She was also announced as Senior Cross-Country Runner of the year following her gold medal at the ASA Cross Country Champs on September 16th, 2023.
Here she finished the 4km race for women 65-69 in a time of 00:18:56.
Raymond Pienaar was announced as the Sports Person of the Year after finishing in second place in Ironman 70.3 of Oct 2022 and June 2023. He also excelled at the Full Iron Man.
He was also announced as VAC’s triathlete of the year.
