Suspect sentenced for murder and kidnapping

The convicted person was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for the murder of Lereko Letseka, as well as 1 year imprisonment for the kidnapping.

Thorough investigation and collection of evidence by the seasoned investigating officer Detective Sergeant Innocencia Mofokeng led to the successful conviction and sentencing of a 31-year-old Molantoa Nondlala for the murder and kidnapping of Lereko Letseka.

Nondlala was handed a jail sentence of 12 years for murder, as well as an additional jail sentence of of 1 year for kidnapping in the Vereeniging Regional Court.

This comes after the police in Meyerton received information about the murder of Lereko Letseka on  24th September2022 at Sicelo ext.4 informal settlement at an open field.

Upon arrival at the murder scene, the police found Letseka’s lifeless body with multiple wounds and a murder case was opened.

The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant Innocecia Mofokeng for investigation.

She immediately started with the investigation, searching for the suspect and insuring she leaves no stone unturned.

The detective followed all the leads until she eventually arrested Nondlala and he was charged with murder and kidnapping.

Meyerton Station Commander, Col Senzangakhona Christopher Mohale, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Mofokeng for het excellent work.

“I am confident that the sentence handed down to Nondlala will serve as deterrent to those who may have the intention to commit these types of crime,” said Mohale
