Learn more about snakes and handling them

VEREENIGING. - This is a great opportunity for local snake enthusiasts.

The Snake Identification, Handling and Snakebite Treatment course is aimed at anyone interested in snakes whether it’s for keepers, removers or as part of the workplace Health and Safety programme.

This course for Vaal Trianglers will be presented on Friday, January 26, at Klip River Country Estate in Three Rivers, Vereeniging.

This exciting course is presented by Nick van der Walt who holds a BTec degree in Emergency Medical Care & Rescue with over 15 years’ worth of experience in the prehospital emergency care profession as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic.

He is well known in die the Vaal and has helped with removing and relocating snakes in the Vaal for many years.

He has been working with venomous snakes since 2002 and has presented this course both nationally and in other African countries.
Nick also holds Agricultural and Health & Safety qualifications giving him a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to problem snakes in the workplace and snakebite treatment.
The course is accredited with the Durban University of Technology/HPCSA, the South African Veterinary Council, Gauteng Nature Conservation, FGASA and other bodies and CPD points will be available for various disciplines!
