MEYERTON. – The Midvaal Local Municipality facilitated the distribution of 185 title deeds to housing beneficiaries of Sicelo.
The Sicelo housing project was allocated to 290 beneficiaries in 2015
This was done through persistent pressure and facilitation by our administration.
There are still 105 title deeds pending transfer by the Gauteng Department of Housing Settlements and we will continue to put pressure on the department to expedite this process.
The Executive Mayo, Alderman Peter Teixeira, stated the following during the ceremony: “When we came into office, we made a promise to our residents to provide them with the dignity of homeownership.”

“We will continue to urge the Provincial Government to expedite the process of issuing title deeds so that our people do not have to wait nine years to obtain documentation confirming ownership of their homes.”
Midvaal Municipality has overseen the issuance of over 600 title deeds to deserving recipients of various housing projects since the beginning of this term.
Although housing is a competency of the Provincial Government, Midvaal Local Municipality will continue to work tirelessly to facilitate the construction of houses and the issuance of title deeds.
